Go FINS!!!

Well I will tell you one thing after the dolphin's preseason game against the chiefs, the dolphin's do not have to worry about winning one game this coming season. They are going to win at least 5, I say. The team that appears to be the next one at risk of going 0-16 this next season is actually the dolphins oppenent from Saturday, the chiefs. The chiefs looked horrible; no pass protection, no run blocking, bad special teams play, bad everything. They did not even score a point against at team that barely won a game last season. True the dolphins look good, I have to admit. However, they are still not even close to a playoff team.

The other team fans need to worry about this season, is actually the patriots. I doubt we are going to see another 16-0 perfomance from them anytime soon. As a matter of fact, I doubt they even win more than ten games this coming season. True, their defence is still good, they still have Lawrence Maroney, Randy Moss, Vince Wilfork, Rodney Harrison, and Richard Seymour is back. However, they may not have Brady at the beginning of the season, due to a foot injury, their special teams and backups look terrible, their offensive line cannot run block, and they lost the superbowl last season. It is true, many teams that have lost the superbowl the next season they fail to make the playoffs. Case in point, da bears, the seahawks, the eagles, the raiders, the giants, the panthers, the rams, etc. Therefore, do not be suprised if the patriots take a downward spiral the next couple of years. Randy Moss may have just found the new Raiders. The defence is getting too old, Tom Brady is becoming an injury liability, the patriots have no depth, equals a rebuilding year for the patriots.

Our Nation's Media

There is a grave concern with our society today. No it is not video games, music, or what the next ipod is going to look like. It is the fact that our nation's media which we trust, is not always faithful to us. The fact stands that the media does not have society's best wishes in mind. I am not saying that the media cannot be helpful, quite the contrary, it can be very informative. Unforunately, the media today does and will continue to choose headlines that are likely to recieve higher ratings over stories that can be socially beneficial.

Today's media cares about one thing and one thing only, ratings. Why? Ratings are what attract sponsors, and if the stations are not attracting sponsors than they lose their jobs. Sponsors need shows with ratings because that is when they are most likely to advertise their products. Hence the NFL Superbowl. Therefore, our media is afraid to run stories that may attract less ratings, and cause sponsors to pull their advertisements.

I am not saying that the media would knowing lie to the public, but they have in the past run stories without checking their sources for authenticity. This is especially true with politics, and political election years, like today. Just an ad can make a candidate look less appealing to potential voters. Therefore, though the media may not openly say something, they may run an ad that can deface a possible political frontrunner.

Our media has never been neutral. It is true that our media pick sides. Fox is an obvious conservative backer. Whereas NBC and CBS tend to be a little more liberal. However, every news agency will run with the story that they belive will receive the highest ratings. There was once a time where the media seemed to have the public's best interest in mind, but that seems to be a pipe dream today.

No, I am not a liberal, and I am not a conservative. I am a human fighting for human rights, and humanity itself. Until the media relizes that it's greatest concern should be humanity, and not who is sponsoring them, then we shall continue to endure this downwards spiral.

Misunderstanding

It seems that this world has become a huge debacle of assumptions, presumptions, and misunderstandings. People seem to assume that you are this, or presume that you do that, or misunderstand what you just said. I am not saying that people are becoming more complicated, or that society has become less intelligent. It just appears that people more and more are less likely to see a situation through someone else's eyes, and only focus on their own point of view.

Being able to see a situation from someone else's point of view can make a completely complicated situation become simple. The only hard thing about it is that the person has to actually try to see the situation from that person's point of view. Unfortunately it all comes down to interpretation. Did the police officer fire at the suspect because the suspect was a minority, or did the police officer fear for his life and knew that the suspect was a known gang member and just reacted on instinct not thinking. However, I must admit that every situation is different. There is an obvious difference between reacting and over-reacting.

The point of the matter is that people need to take a step back from whatever perspective they had, and try to see the situation through the other's eye's. To many times I have heard and seen over-reactions because the person assumed one thing, and did not take the time to take the other person's perspective into play. For example, no that driver did not just cut you off, they are just in a hurry, and were not paying attention. No, that does not make what they did right, but that does not give you the right to create road rage, or follow them five miles to scold them. Some things just are not worth the time. People have to start creating priorities.

Situations are never one sided. There is never one correct, or incorrect, perspective. All the points of view must be taken into account, otherwise miscommunication and assumptions can occur. There is an old saying, when one assumes he makes an ass out of you and me. So, next time do not assume and take all the available information into account.
