Education is key!

I understand that our economy sucks, and that we are in a recession, and we our economy is falling further and further into debt, but do not take our economy's frustrations out on education, PLEASE!!!!
I am tired and tired of seeing our government, and our California governator pull more and more funing away from our children's education. Our children are our future, they are alive and learning. Right now, if I were an aware child, I would think that our government does not care about me, because they keep pulling more and more funding out of schools. This means older textbooks, more crowded classrooms, a higher ratio of children to teachers, a higher ratio of children to computers, fewer new computers, less educated teachers, fewer and worse background checks on potential teachers, etc.
Please, don't make our children suffer for the mistakes that we are making today. Our education system is already far enough behind the other G8 countries, we don't need to fall behind any further. If anything we need to put more funding into our public school system.
At this rate, if I have children, I am putting them into private schools, because they are the only ones that are going to be keeping up with the other nations in some way. I am not big on organized religion, but if it means that my kid knows algebra, calculous, physics, chemistry, English, etc. Then it is worth it.

Giant Killers

Once again David has slain Goliath. The Dolphins today have not beaten just one team from last years AFC Championship game, but both teams from last years AFC Championship game between New England and San Diego. Quite a turnaround for a team that had only one regular season win a year ago. Now, they begin their winning ways by defeating the best teams in the AFC last year. True, New England is without Tom Brady, and true, San Diego is missing many pieces of their puzzle as well, but that does not discredit the fact that Miami was the better team the last two games.

Not only does Miami's offense look efficient and powerful, but their defense is keeping them in games, and not allowing their oppenent to score points, let alone keep the ball. No, Miami's defense is not taking the ball away alot, they have just two or three turnovers all year, but they are getting the oppenents offense off the field, and not allowing long scoring drives.

This can be definitely attributed to the brilliant minds of Bill Parcells, and the entire Miami coaching staff. The formula for winning, that the Dolphins have misplaced the past few years, is coming back. No, they did not go out and sign some big name free agents, or even pick the most talented player in the draft, instead they chose the correct pieces of the puzzle to get the team running efficiently and confidently. They hired the leagues most brilliant coach ever as their vice president of football operations, they signed a brilliant genearl manager, and they chose a coaching staff that would push their players. In combination, in just one year these brilliant minds have turned the worst team in the NFL into a contender. I am not saying that they have a chance to win the Super Bowl, or even that they will make the playoffs. I am saying that they now have a chance, and it is up to the players to take that chance. Plus, given that they play in the AFC, I could definitely see the Dolphins going 10-6 and still not making the playoffs, again. However, no matter how well, or how poorly, the Dolphins do this year, already we can see a change in this team. They know they can win now, even against strong playoff bound opponents. Now, they need to make sure they win against the weak teams as well, like Houston next week.

Youtube and political censorship

Why would the internets best site for political snippets and videos suddenly stop showing videos with a political essence? For example, Saturday Night Live has recently had two skits performed with Tina Fey portraying Governor Sarah Palin, and Youtube is now blocking the skit that satirizes Palin's interview with Katie Couric; at least the full versions is. Is Youtube trying to stay politically neutral, or are they now blocking all video with a political nature. So, should they then block all political endorsement videos, satire, etc. I say if they are going to block one then they should block all, but the other video of SNL's skit with Palin and Clinton is still playing. Why are they only blocking the one skit? Palin herself said that she thought the skits were funny and that Tina Fey was dead nuts on portraying her character. Why have they decided to pull that skit?

Obviously, there is still alot of political bias. Of all the times I have viewed videos on youtube, I have never seen one blocked from playing. Censored yes, for children's sake, but never completely blocked from actually even being played. Is this the new beginning of political censorship in this country? Will we soon see fewer and fewer political satires? What is this country coming too? I don't mean to sound like a slippery slope, but it has to start somewhere.

Please, if you are like me, and I detest censorship on any level (except for children), please make sure to make your concern known. Tell a friend, talk with a coworker, speak with a relative about it, just speak up, because if we don't then they will continue to silence us.
